Here is my review of the Clone Wars movie.
The action was great. The droid army was hilarious. Ziro was also good for some laughs. That's it though.
There was no chemistry between Anakin and his apprentice. There was no build up or suspense to what was happening on screen. Jabba's son gets kidnapped but from the start I never got the sense that he was in any danger. Anakin's character came off far too young, he seemed 13 instead of being 20. Its a kid's movie you say? Well as
Corterville said, kids movies do not need to be so childish. A kids movie should appeal to kids, kids should be able to follow along, and kids movies can have depth. Many of the kids movies I grew up on were that way.
I think that things would have been better if Clone Wars was just on television. Given time to get attached to the characters and kicking back in my living room watching it in 30 minute pieces I think it would have been a much better experience. I would have been able to like some episodes more than others, but put out on the screen as a continuous adventure I just could not get into it.
What I have seen, funny droids and great action, does make me feel that the show could be better as time goes on.
Its got potential.
I did take the day off work, and I had a good time watching the movie. I mean popcorn and soda for breakfast? Iit was like being in college again. Its Star Wars after all and I still love the material/subject. I hope they keep making more material so there will be something new to share with my own kids...
...the first of which will be around early January!!!
