Why couldn't Mace wait?
Time and time again after watching Episode III, I wonder why Mace Windu didnt wait and plan an effective attack on the newly discovered Sith lord. I mean really, if your going to make an attempt to arrest a powerful sith lord, you'll need a better plan than to just show up and ask for complience. Complience and giving up are just not sith attributes. They do and will resist with everything they've ever learned while in training. Palpatine and his influence was greatly under-estimated by Mace and the jedi-council.

As a matter of fact I dont think that there was even a meeting of the entire council to discuss what exactly should go on and more importantly who should go to carry it out. (Maybe there was an extension in the book about this but I forget if there was). Though Mace made a good apparent decision to make Anakin stay behind, it would not have made a difference. Because if he had been there from the start to see what Palps did to diserve to be killed and be "too dangerous to be kept alive", Anakin's jealousy greatly overshadows his ability to make good judgement calls, and it would have resulted in a similar outcome.

I've also considered many times what may have happened had Yoda been included in the arrest attempt. He was pretty much an even match up for Palpatine alone and with Mace with him, they could have over come Palpatine with some ease and prevent Anakin from making a dark decision that ultimately shapes the rest of his life. But instead the quantity over quality mistake was made, though three jedi masters were taken with Mace, they didn't have the neccesary skills to compete with a sith lord of that magnitude.

Maybe the council should have called Obi-Wan to come back to Coruscant before carrying out the arrest because they know that he has the best control over Skywalkers conflicting emotions. Even Windu sensed this great confusion within Anakin. So maybe something else could have happened there as well.

All in all a better decision to de-throne Palpatine could've changed the dark and gruesome outcome of the galaxy and the Republic.
