Tha Star Wars Alphabet - I and J
Sorry this is getting out a day later than I planned. Life got in the way. :)

To make up for it, I will give you both "I" and "J" at the same time. Please hold your applause until the end.

"I" did not give me many choices, so I went with IG-88. Beyond what you see of this droid bounty hunter in Episode V, there is not much to say unless you dive into the EU. Since I have barely done this, I will share my thought on him as a Kenner toy.

First and foremost, he came with 2 guns. How cool is that? And they were big guns. He had a little difficulty holding onto them with his claw like hands, but cool nonetheless.

For some reason, the 12" figure of this character goes for huge prices on the secondary market. It is strange that Kenner even made him since there is not much to his character. I had most of the 12" line (I wish I still did), but never got him. I guess I either never asked for it or it was sold out and mom could not get him. Oh well.

We wrap up this week with "J". I had a few choices for J including Jawas, Jango Fett, and everyone's favorite character to hate (or love) - Jar Jar Binks. But I had to go with Jabba the Hutt.

Jabba makes his "real" first appearance in Return of the Jedi. He was only a name in Episodes IV and V. There are things to love and hate about him. He is a combination of the 7 deadly sins. He has an ongoing Bacchanal filled with music and scantily clad dancing slave girls. He speaks his own language. Jedi mind tricks don't work on him (apparently not a weak mind). He lives in a palace with a huge entourage of bounty hunters, scum and misfits with his greatest treasure - Han Solo frozen in carbonite.

Thanks to the wonders of CG in the special edition of Episode IV, we get more Jabba and who does not want more of that? The CG DVD version is not too bad vs. the original film version, He also makes his way into Episode I and from what I understand as an animated character (with a son?) in the Clone Wars film.

So that wraps up another week of the Star Wars Alphabet. We are close to the halfway mark. Next week - K through O. Have a great weekend and May the Force be with you!

Great job on I and J!

I must say that I never got the IG-88 12" fig either, darn it. I have most of them still, but not him...

As for Jabba... I've never been able to find anything about him to love... ah well.

Interesting chioce for "I". I would indeed like to see his character developed a little more. Good choice for "J", although I would have chosen Jango. ;)

MTFBWY! God bless!

IG-88 and Jabba the Hutt. Good choices.

Jawas. It's amazing that they appeared in four out of six of the films (and I could be wrong on that, we're they snuck into "Revenge" somewhere? Maybe in the Senate?

It's funny, I saw "I and J" and thought this blog would be about Indiana Jones!
