This was one of the most challenging for me to narrow down the list of great choices.

Ultimately, I had to go with Luke Skywalker. He is not my personal favorite character in the saga, but you cannot deny his impact on the overall story in the original trilogy.

Luke was whiny (not unlike his father at times), but had a great heart. He went through a lot in a short period of time. He lost Biggs, Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru, and Ben Kenobi. This was just in the first film.

By Empire, he loses Han, loses his hand, and finds out Vader is his father. In Return of the Jedi, Yoda dies, finds out Leia is his sister (ewww...he had kissed her), and Vader dies.

Of course, he does end the Emperor's reign over the galaxy and helps restore peace, so that is a good thing.

My other choices kept swirling around in my head and making me go back and forth. I feel they deserve honorable mentions.

Lando Calrissian! In my opinion, we do not get enough of him in the films or in collectibles (Hallmark - I am talking to you). He is so smooth and cool at all times. To add to my "L" collection would be his sidekick of Lobot. He doesn't say much, but I like him because he is bald like me.

Other "L" contenders included: Logray, Lama Su, and Lott Dod.
