B is for....Boba Fett!
I would imagine that this would be the choice for many fans as he is one of the most popular from the series. My reasons for choosing the Fett Man are numerous.
1) He is mysterious. A man of few words (at least as an adult). Hidden behind a very cool helmet.
2) All those wonderful toys! Flame thrower, blasters, rocket pack, grappling hook, etc.
3) He owns Slave I. This is one of my favorite ships from the series. I like the shape and how it flies.
4) He makes an appearance in the Holiday special. Of course, his armor and weapons were a little different, but anyone who can be in a show with Bea Arthur deserves to be idolized.
I can go on and on about him. In Episode 2, he was not exactly what I would have pictured, but it made more sense at the end with the death of his father.
Additional reasons I chose him are similar as to why I selected Admiral Ackbar for A. He was a mail-in figure. Like most kids back then, I was disappointed when he arrived and could not shoot the rocket from his jetpack.
I remember having to wash my uncle's 40' RV on a Saturday morning and he bought me Slave I. It was a thrill for me and a bargain for him in the end. I had to call several stores to hunt it down.
Another favorite Boba toy was the 12" figure. I liked the ability to look through the back of his head and see "far" away. He was also great for burying in the sand in my reenactment of the Sarlaac (if I only knew then what I know now, I would have never have taken him from the box, but that would have been boring).
I have very few Boba collectibles now, but I do have the Hallmark ornament for him and Slave I (which weighs like 5 lbs for some reason).
Honorable mentions for B include: Bib Fortuna, Bespin, Bail Organa, and Bossk!
"C" you all soon!
