 | Batman Begins |
I saw Batman Begins on Friday and I can only say one thing about it:
"When the F@$#!& is the next one coming out?!?!?!"
That was the PERFECT comic book movie. They finally nailed Batman down. DC and WB was smart to revamp Bats in the wake of the success Marvel has had with X-men and Spider-Man.
They FINALLY did the Dark Knight justice. Bale was brilliant in the 3 roles. I say three because of the Bruce Wayne, the man driven by the need to clean up Gotham, Batman the Dark Knight and 2nd Bruce Wayne, the Playboy, wiseass front he puts forth to the public. Caine was the best possible choice for Alfred. Oldman was PERFECT as Gordon. THIS was the Gordon i always imagined. Nieson was amazing (he played Qui-Gon but not in the SW Universe... BUT (if you haven't seen it... avoid below)

- You were warned...
He actually being Ra Al Ghul was BRILLIANT! Never saw it coming and I have now determined I will never read spoilers ever again. I went into this film knowing nothing and I LOVED it.
There's so much to say, just not enough time and I will be seeing it again this week...
... now, I am going into Fantastic Four with LOW expectations... so hopefully it'll be decent.

I completely share your enthusiam for this film. The next one can't come soon enough. And the storyline of the next film is somewhat easy to figure out if you look at all the clues in the film.
Still, in this genre, to me, this one is the best by miles. This is the Dark Knight. I give Goyer, Nolan, the crew, and the cast all the credit in the world of this film. This film is stunning.

This film was beautiful. I've already seen it three times. (In fact, yesterday I went to the IMAX one and won a doublesided poster in a ticket raffle)
You're right, Bale has the Dark Knight down. I seriously can't wait for the sequel.

The casting was spot on! Really, how many great faces can you put in one film??
Bale was awesome! Oldman was perfect (and so nice to see him as a good guy), I wish I could have seen him more in the film; Neeson, yeah total SPOILER (don't hover or click, hehe only way I could think of saying it without printing it ) >>>->>>->>>; Caine, perfect; Freeman I could listen to him all day; Ken Watanabe...oh yeah; Tom Wilkinson and Cillian Murphy too.
Hope to see it again next week sometime at IMAX, since it's so close...can't pass that up.
Anyone else spot Khan Bonfils (Saesee Tiin)?? or Shane Rimmer (in ANH)?

The beauty of it is, Bale was at WonderCon in Febuary and his passion for and love of the character was beyond what I had ever heard from anyone about ANY role. I knew then he wouldn't disappoint and the film showed that was proof.
I also thought the Batman make-up during the "Scarecrow" scene was BRILLIANT... Batman looked so Vile and evil!

The thing with Bale, and they have to do this in the sequel, is that they need to let Bale cross that line that Alfred was afraid that Bruce might do if he gets trapped inside this monster he's created. And the only real way to do that is to have Bruce feel responsible for someone's death and that's basically Rachel(Scarecrow, Joker, or them working together in some way). Either way, when that happens, we'll see another side of Bruce Wayne/Batman and that's when we'll be able to see Bale cut loose and really go for it. I'm just curious to see if WB will go for it because all the signs are there in this film. The sequels could get really dramatic and serious if they go the route I think they might.

EVERYONE, for the exception of Murphy has signed on to do at the very least 2 more sequels, so that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy... I'm dying to know who they'll cast as The Joker. I figure by the time the sequel comes out, the Joker can be the thron in Batman's side he is in the Comics.
I would also like to see Robin eventually incorperated, but the RIGHT WAY. I wouldn't even make him "Robin" in his intial film... someone Bruce sees who has promise and then he is Robin in the follwing film.
Just my 2 cents on that.

The interesting thing about Robin is that I personally don't see room for him in this version of the franchise. And I know, from an interview, that Bale wants Batman to be a loner in this series. But, with the quality of this film, immediately you think of what could Nolan do with all of these characters and the rogue's gallery of villians and that's what makes the prospect of sequels to this film so interesting. I mean, he could get every character absolutely right. I just don't see a Robin in the next film, if ever. I'm very, very curious on how they'll do the Joker.

I see the Joker coming into the sequel as being a Thorn in Batman's side. That they've done the dance over and over again at this point... a history between them. I personally see Adrian Brody in the role.
As for Robin... If they never use him, I'd be ok, but a part of me thinks he almost has to be introduced at somepoint.

Maybe. Another thing to consider is that because Rachel's boss got killed, they'll introduce Dent as the new D.A. in town, helping Batman and befriending both Rachel and Wayne. At some point, this will lead to the Two Face plotline. More than likely, at the end of the second, the accident with Dent will happen and then we'll get Two Face for the third film. It'll get personally because Batman tries to bring his friend back.
