Clone Wars: First Thoughts
With another tax season now behind me, I'm slowly adjusting to having my life back again. Free time, or something sort of resembling it is such a strange concept.

There was a time when I would check this site daily, posting frequently on the boards and blogging at least once a week. Then, this pesky little thing called real life got in the way. But here I am once again, hoping to be here more often. After forgetting to record the Clone Wars trailer last Thursday night, I finally remembered to check it out on the web last night. I must say that it left me with interesting feelings.

I remember a time when just seeing the LFL logo in front a movie trailer would get me so incredibly excited. Now, while I am eagerly anticipating this, it doesn't have me excited in the same way. Perhaps it's because it's not a full fledged Star Wars movie in the style that I grew up with, but all that said, this still looks quite cool.

I'm curious to see how they're going to deal with Anakin's padawan. Thinking of Anakin having a padawan still takes some getting used to since there was obviously no hint of that at all in the films or the prior Clone Wars stories told. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, just that it will take some getting used to(much like seeing the Warner Brothers shield instead of hearing the 20th Century Fox Fanfare).

The new animation style will be interesting as well. The lightsaber fights look cool and as long as we get to see more Mace and Yoda fighting, than I'll be just fine with that.

All in all, I'm looking forward to it. While the August heat in Northern California will prevent me from donning my Jedi robes(those things were hot enough in the May premeires for Episodes II and III), I plan on being there opening night. I just hope it proves to be a worthy addition to the Star Wars canon.

And any entry of mine on this day would be incomplete without birthday wishes to George Lucas. He even got a mention in Disney Insider's weekly email on account of Star Wars and Indiana Jones inspiring popular attractions in Disneyland. So, thanks George for creating a story that fueled my imagination as a child and resonates with me as an adult for it's reminder that good will triumph even though the struggle will be difficult. I think we all need those reminders at times.

P.S. A friend of mine sent me this rather interesting news article. From the article it would appear that alcohol and dressing as Dark Lords of the Sith are not good combinations.

Enjoy, won't us.
