I had a member respond to my last blog entry with a theory about the ol' Leia-remembering-Padme bit. I didn't get her screen name though... or I'd tell you who it was! In response to a discussion that my lady and I had, this member thought that perhaps Leia really remembered Mrs. Organa rather than her real mother. So I guess it's my turn to weigh in.

Actually, I think it might be something different. I think that Leia knows she's adopted, but she's probably asked the Organas in childhood about her birth mother. Because Bail Organa knew Padme relatively well through the senate, he could paint a pretty good emotional portrait of her for Leia. Sometimes our minds play tricks on us... when we hear about a person or an event enough, we sometimes can picture ourselves there or knowing the person... I think THAT, combined with the possible Force-sensitivity, could have been how Leia got these images and feelings of a beautiful and sad mother who died when she was very young. And the reason Luke wouldn't have these ideas would have to do with the fact that Owen and Beru seem to really be hiding the past from him. Even if he DID ask about his birth mother, they only met her briefly and I doubt Owen would have let Luke know ANYTHING. I guess that's where my opinion sits.

It's a shame that it's not so smooth for the average viewer. People like us, who are big ol' fans of the saga, sit and pick them apart to find an explanation. We can make these things make sense to us, but for the average viewer, it seems like a contradiction.
