30 years in hiding?
It's been three years since the release of AotC and no mention of these lost relatives have been seen in the most recent of the New Jedi Order series. These people are none other than the Naberrie family. Luke and Leia have grandparents... an aunt and (an unseen) uncle... and cousins! The Naberrie family holds many secrets for our heros Luke and Leia. After 30 some odd years the twins still do not know who their mother was, nor how she died. Their children have great grandparents and they are no where to be seen? What happened to them?

It is possible that they were all killed by the Empire, more like the Emperor. Darth Vader did not have enough evil to butcher a family, especially those akin to he and his lost love. The Emperor may have killed the Naberries in an attempt to hide something. Palpatine was close to Padme and her family, he knew the Naberries were a powerful family and if they knew the cause of their daughter's death was due to Vader and the new Empire, they could have been a poltical threat.
-or-
The family knew of Skywalker's turn to the Dark Side and chose to keep quiet and away from their grandchildren. The Naberries would have obviously known that Luke was their grandson, the only "head" Jedi Master is not easy to hide, nor having a granddaughter as a Chief of State.

We know that Naboo still exsists because in the maps that came with the NJO the planet is still there. Unless Lucas is holding something back from us, I feel this is a mystery that would bring questions to our heros that they have had a long time to dwell upon. Though I am a knowledgeable SW fan and an aspiring writer, I do not possess the reputation to write my own SW book that would finally bring some piece of mind to our heros. With the upcoming release of the Dark Nest trilogy, due this month, and the large untitled series to come out later, we have to wait and see if anyone will answer my call.

Besides, it would make for an interesting read, to see the Skywalkers return to Naboo, and a nice tie in of the PT to the EU.

Recently, in the V.I.P thread located in the Books, Comics and Televsion forum, this question was posted;

Hot Shot X-Wing Pilot posted:
Those of us that held out for a novel connecting Padme and her children had to face the facts with the release of ROTS, but obviously Padme's family was left alive. When will we see the connection with Luke and Leia and Padme's sister or her children? You have to admit that that is too big of an opportunity to leave alone.

Eeusu Estornii replied:
I'm choosing not to reply to this one.... but don't want you to think I'm inadvertently ignoring your question.

I thought you may find this information interesting. :)

i think the answer to that is obvious...

padme was keeping her marrage and pregnacy a secret from everyone except anikin. they wouldn't have known about the twins. when padme was killed, obiwan and bail organa made sure to keep them secret, by making her appear to be pregnant still at her funeral. as far as i can guess, this was most likely the first time her family found out about her impending birth. when they burried their daughter, they also burried their grandchild(ren), as far as they knew.

am i close? i would like to read what really happens. padme is just too good to forget about...:x

good call about the keeping it secret. i do however think that a family as "wise" as Padmes would say "hey, a skywalker jedi master?" as far as leia is concerned, thats a little different since her last name was changed to Solo. but that is a good call about obi-wan and bail hiding the birth(s), didn't think about that one.

It could hold that even though the family found out she was pregnant no one had to tell them Anakin Skywalker was the father. Obi-Wan figured it out in the movie but it isn't like he got on the holonet and broadcast it. Keeping the father's name from the Naberries may have been another way to keep the children safe. I do hope it is further explored. The books have had Luke trying to find his mother or at least find out what happened. Leia got to the point in the Black Fleet Crisis books of not "caring" anymore about the past, only the future. A confrontation with the past, especially with all the Solos have lost, would be very interesting.
