Star Wars Insider; The Last Straw
Thanks everyone for your input on Star Wars University! If only we could put those suggestions to real use! But this blog is going to be less hopeful and more angry unfortunately...

After waiting an extra month for Star Wars Insider #104 I went to Barnes & Noble only to discover that it now costs $7.99!! Not only is insider worse than it was before, now its more expensive! I loved it when insider had fiction, and holonet news. I thought that those were two of the best things about the magazine. Recently I've been wondering why I should spend my money on information I can get for free on the internet, and little more. I Subscribe to a number of magazines and they are all thicker and more interesting than Insider! I honestly couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the price.

After wandering the store for 15 minutes and perusing the graphic novels, I made my decision. I couldn't bring myself to purchase the magazine. It felt wrong to me. Unless the price goes down (fat chance) I don't think that I will buy another issue.

Yes, I know my time would be better spent writing a letter to the empire, oh whoops I mean TITAN PUBLISHING. Which I plan to do. But in the mean time I may as well see how other star wars fans are reacting!

I did the same thing... I can't believe that the news stand price is 7.99, either, and the other day I was just gonna get one copy ('cause I didn't renew my subscription last year) and I just couldn't out of principle and put it back. They're all ads, anyway!

Try not. Do. Or do not. There is no try.

You must follow your own heart.

What about just getting a subscription? The sub price is less than the per-issue-on-the-newsstand price, and that might make it a little easier on you. Or, if you don't want to go that route, is there a friend with whom you could share the cost (and the issues)? That may not be the ideal scenario for you, but it is a plausible solution (if you want the magazine, that is).

A missive to TP is a good idea. I've never known the price of a publication ever to be reduced, but, if the publisher is willing to reinstate some of your (and my!) favorite features, it might make the price more palatable.

A subscription is cheaper.

And I really love Insider, and I think they're doing a great job! Their top ten quotes and inside Star Wars were both great features.

Hmm.. I'm sorry you feel that way. Ya, HoloNet News and the fiction was good, but I think they've added some really great new features. I enjoy reading it just as much as I did a few years ago. And it looks a lot cooler too! ;)

Star Wars Insider is awesome! You are idiotic if you hate it! Lol JK. But I love SW and so I love SW Insider. I get mine from Wally World and it's only 5.39 there.

I agree with your opinions if SW Insider. I haven't been too impressed with the content, and frankly, I hate the ads for the other fan magazines. I'm still debating getting a subscription, since mine ran out last year. I've grabbed some issues off the newsstands to have them, like the 100 issue.

A wise decision.
