" Padme' I need your help. " Obi-wan in ROTS

" Help me Obi-wan Kenobi....your my only HOPE. " Leia in Star Wars (ANH)


Ever consider that Obi-wan may have been haunted or tormented by past visions of the twilight era of the Jedi Knights from the old Republic?

Before I even get started with this, I would like to thank Sith Lord 8 for his intriguing entry on Obi-wan's reactions to Leia: http://blogs.starwars.com/SithLordEight/7 for this was my inspiration. It actually moved me enough to save my original idea for a later time.

Getting to the moment at hand as seen in the picture I selected. The moment Obi-wan was able to retrieve the hidden message within R2 , something changes in old Bens demeanor. As a ghostly image of a lovely young woman illuminates the room, Obi-wan is captivated (along with Luke). He is entranced and leans as far back into his chair as it will allow. Then he tugs onto his beard and listens to the plea for help and possibly her last and only hope. Is this image taking him back to a place he has desperately tried to forget after all these years? To a city.....inside an ambassdorial suite no less......to a woman who is now a ghost. For that was when he asked her for help..." Padme' I need your help......Do you know where he is? .....He is in grave danger. " Now it was this painful memory he had tried to forget that was pleading with him for help.

Is it possible that he felt he had failed her? Just the expression on Obi-wan's face in ROTS when Padme' exhales for the last time....it's one of utter sadness with a look of failure. Remember it was he who stole away on Padme's ship and He who revealed his presence at an untimely moment between a Husband and wife....this would have lead anyone to feel that an intimate relation had occurred with their spouse. Could it be that Obi-wan wanted to redeem himself through Luke and Leia? Possibly.
Finally reunited with the remnants of what once was, Obi-wan felt compelled to correct the mistake he had lived with all these years..... Obi-wan would find a way to ammend what went wrong on Mustafar .....and he did by uniting Luke with Leia and eventually their father. Just some thoughts. As always comments, disagreements....thoughts are welcome!!!
