 | "I'm Luke Skywalker. I'm here to rescue you." |
 Well it's official, the final countdown to Celebration IV has begun! With only 3 weeks between me (other CIV attendees) and being totally immersed in everything Star Wars, I am left to contemplate once again what this experience and Star Wars means to/for me.
The dialogue above in my title has prominent meaning to me now as an adult, then it ever has before. I'm not talking about it's "actual meaning" to the storyline itself, but rather for me, personally. It didn't actually all sink in until I saw this. It was a " Wake up Call" if you will. See, my life hasn't always been a bed of roses. Not saying that my " home life" is any more sour or sweeter than anyone else's for that matter either.
Looking upon this beautiful art piece (by, Joe Corroney) and a rather emotional one too (at least to me), it was like hearing Luke for the first time "I'm here to rescue you.".....and in the distance I could hear a faint whisper, an echo if you will....softly muttering, " ...He can help you. He was meant to help you. "
Throughout my ups and downs in life, Star Wars has always been there to lift me up, or " Rescue me" from the gloom of reality. Star Wars is and will always be my Salvation. Ok, some of you are now thinking to yourselves, " Angel has gone Nutty!" or " This girl is whacked!" For those of you out there, Who know me, Really know me, can either fully understand or empathize with me on this....and for that, I Thank YOU from the bottom of my heart.
Just within a year of being on these blogs, a member of this community, a blogger in Blogsville ....I have learned what true friendship really is. Not only that, I realized that it's OK to be me, a Geek in love with a Sci- Fi fantasy. So in love and completely passionate, that I indulge myself into it with my "musings" (fan fiction), friendly banter and conversations (blogging & commenting), and taking a leap of faith and trusting those behind their 'puter screens ( you, the Bloggers, the True Fans) and venturing off to meet some of you in person; MO2YP, AS1, PS77! Now in 3 weeks, I will hopefully meet the Lot of YOU! This means more to me than I could ever express in words, I'm gushing with happiness and with an uncanny sense of Freedom.....this ~Angel Baby~ ( all original name rights go to M68 ) is going to spread her wings and soar........
" The paths we choose, pave our destiny."
Thank YOU, Mr. Lucas, for taking that leap of faith and creating something so magical. It has literally become a "World Wide" phenomenon! So incredible, in fact, that it has united a small "Crew" of independent "idealists", that connect in such an intense way, that our "crude matter" has not ...mattered in our " little universe" where there is absolutely no prejudice or judgement passed amongst us.....only harmony .....in our own unique, cyberspace realm we have restored balance too . We are living our dream and embracing our fantasy......and I know I will never regret " the cards" this life has dealt me, good or bad, I'd do it all again for the friendships I have made here, in Hyperspace ...and I will never Regret, what has made me Smile .
...."Now I am complete." Shmi Skywalker
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Also, I wanted to publicly Thank, fellow blogger and my Good Friend, Hansgirl3 for a very special and unique gift that she "made" for me, I so Love this Girl  !!!! Look at my "shiny present!!!!!"
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!!
Awwww, shucks, Angel!  You are tooooooooooo sweet!
Every time I start thinking about C4 I start to get uncontrollably bubbly!!! AAAAAHHHHH!!!
Thank YOU, Mr. Lucas, for taking that leap of faith and creating something so magical. "amen" to that!!! It was almost a miracle that SW made it to the screen in the first place. But it was his DESTINY, as becoming a fan was ours!!
Salvation...yes, uplifting...indeed...magical....always! LONG LIVE STAR WARS!!!!
"Angel has gone Nutty!" or "This girl is whacked!"
Nope. I've been there. Only people who've been there can truly understand what you mean, and I know what you mean. I was at my lowest point in my life thus far and my boys forced me into a Star Wars weekend. It brought back the optimism of my youth and brought me out of the deep dark hole that I was in; I still can't articulate why something as Earth shattering as this has happened, but, I'm working on it .
My renewed interest in the Star Wars world brought me here to Star Wars Blogville--a place where I can joke, share or just enjoy the company of others who are even bigger Geeks (as RJ would say) than me.  LOL!
Awwwww...Angel
You know...my blogging here and then my meeting you, MO2YP and AS1 really changed me this year. Everyone I know has commented on my new outlook on life and my new attitude (in a good way). It truly is amazing what friendships across cyberspace and, eventually, IRL can do for someone.
Thank YOU, Mr. Lucas, for taking that leap of faith and creating something so magical.
Amen indeed
the final countdown to Celebration IV has begun! With only 3 weeks...
Ahhhhhh!!  I guess that means it's * crunch time* for me  Can't wait to see you again and to meet everyone else!!
So incredible, in fact, that it has united a small "Crew" of independant "idealists", that connect in such an intense way, that our "crude matter" has not ...mattered
Well.....the only crude matter that matters to the CREW is the BUNS OF STEEL standing butt naked on the beach, gazing out at the ocean.
You are at one with your geeky self and Master is proud of you.  And the fun won't stop after CIV. That, I can guarantee you.
Can't wait to squeeze the Angel and have a SQUEE fest.
I know what you mean!!! This is definitely true of my life, too...in some pretty serious ways. I can honestly say I don't know where I'd be without SW. And don't even get me started on this freakin' awesome community here at sw.com...  I finally feel like I fit in somewhere.
Can't wait to hug you & SQUEE with you, Angel!!!!   3 weeks!!!!!
I hear you loud and clear on that one. I have a tendancy to fight depression when life starts to get me down. Star Wars has always helped. Like you said, lift the gloom and doom.
I am right there with ya! The power behind Star Wars, the essence of Star Wars, the Force of Star Wars (no pun intended. . . strike that: laugh if it's funny) is an incredible power that is often experienced but not clearly related. To watch the movies (any one) and be able to be caught up in such a magnificent reality, and then learn from that reality and apply it to your own life is a one of a kind experience.
Excellent heartfelt blog,
Now that you've gotten all mushy on us....
I SOOOOOO totally agree..... Star Wars is always here for us.... I had a flashback to 1985, and getting fired by a Sith boss and how he snorted as I lovingly took down my ROTJ poster from my office.... I thought at the time "You just don't get it, no wonder you're such an %&*$&$#$&"
But these days it's even better, since we have the blogging world... None of us has to be the lone SW geek in a crowd.....
Obi and Ani Buns of Steel on the Beach--wouldn't that be nice. If they offered that at CIV there would be nothin' holding me back from going.
My Inner Leia standing up for myself...?
