To start with, let me just say WOW! in response to this new batch. It's awesome. Thank you very much you guys who run Hyperspace

Now, I'm one of those that're never satisfied with the avatar I'm using. I constantly change my avatar. I used to make my avatar fit with my screenname but with that function gone I'll just have to settle for an avatar which doesn't fit my screenname.

I used to go for some kind of "theme" when my screenname was changeable:

For example if I was Preziden Y.W Bush then I would have the Palpatine avatar to take the mickey out of the boards Bush supporters

or

if I was Y,Wobot I used a droid avatar

I must say that I could never be stuck with the same avatar all the time. Some people manage to stick to the same avatar and make it as much as a part of themselves as their screenname, like I can't see a Qui-Gon Jinn avatar without thinking of JQG or an AT-AT avatar without thinking of Dark Moose. Others manage to stick to some kind of "theme", like Master Mike that switches between the Obi-Wan avatars or Yodafn who sticks to the different Yoda avatars.

I just think it gets old fast and I want to take advantage of this perk we've got where I can change to whatever picture I want.

Sometimes I choose my avatar depending on my mood. Well, I only used the Rune Haako when I'm sad or disappointed. Come to think of it, it's the only avatar I use when I'm in a certain mood. It's an interesting thing to do because then other posters can see what mood I'm in and such.

I've also got this little thing that I must have an avatar that no one else (or very few use). A shining example is the Yoda avatar whom I've given the affectionate nickname of Crazy Bum, because he looks crazy. It took it because no one else used it and it was charming in an ugly sort of way. Funnily enough, there's a kind of a cult thing surrounding Crazy Bum with some members that I usually chat with and I achieved something that I really didn't want: personalizing a certain avatar so it became a part of me. It wasn't because I used it a lot but because how I joked about.

Also, I totally dig the clone troopers in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith so any avatar with them is totally cool. Man, I was so glad to see the Clone Wars 1 & 3 batch along with the Revenge of the Sith one, I could just sit choose and I'd be happy with whichever I chose!

Dunno why I'm such Clone fan but not a Stormtrooper one. I think I'll come back to that in another entry.

It's interesting, looking back before I got my Access Code, I always thought of rolling some dice so that I could pick an avatar at random. Now I know I can't do that because I'd never be satisfied. Sometimes I'm not even satisfied with the ones I pick myself.

So, there's my thoughts on avatars. I might look at them a bit more differenly then other Hyperspace subscribers, but hey, they are a cool perk, aren't they?

Now you've heard why I choose certain avatars and my outlook on it, but also I'm interested in what makes other people change their avatars all the time or just stick to one. Contact me through this thread or the blogger contact-thingy. Which ever you want.

Oh yeah, buy the time you've read this, I've most likely changed my avatar (I'm currently using Commander Appo in the Revenge batch)
