Way Out Beyond the Dune Sea

31 years ago an eleven year old boy came face to face with destiny
I had no idea that a trip to the movies would have such an impact on my life and alter the course of my destiny forever. A story that has been told many ways by many people over the years. A story that is my own as well. I've been drawing all of my life but something happened that summer in 1977 that changed everything. All I could do was draw Star Wars, play Star Wars and live Star Wars. I drove my Mom nuts begging for paper and pencils. She finally started bringing home reams of typing paper for me to use. Eventually you grow up, go to art school, get a job, get married and live a normal life. You keep your dreams realistic and revisit your childhood in quiet moments alone. Then one day 25 years later you get a call from your boss from somewhere on the road and he says: "Luke! you must learn the ways of the force and come with me to Alderaan" "What!? Who is this"? I asked laughing at the prankster on the other end of the phone. "We just secured the Star Wars License and it's all yours Luke......Use the force young Skywalker". For a moment I thought I had a stroke or developed some kind of mental illness and was hallucinating. All of those Star Wars figures....The vinyl fumes have destroyed my brain. An hour or so went by and then the terror of realizing that a dream long forgotten was coming true in a sort of roundabout way. How could I be working on a licensed Lucasfilm product? I work for a slot machine manufacturer. Can I do it justice? Am I good enough? Of course I am. I was born for this.......

That's just awesome. :) Glad to hear your practice as a kid paid off. It's cool enough to be able to be an artist for a living, but to fulfill a life-long dream of drawing Star Wars? Congratulations.
