Growing up, Marvel comics had a series call "What if?" where they would change the story line to famous comic book series. For example, in Spiderman, they would write a series on "what if Uncle Ben never died" and explore how that might have changed Peter Parker's life. There are a number of scenes in the Star Wars movies that I think would be interesting to explore under this scenario.

For example:

What if Alderaan was never destroyed and Obi-Wan was able to train Luke there?

What if Luke stayed on Dagobah and completed his training with Yoda?

What if Qui-Gon was able to free Anakin and his mother in Episode 1? Would this have changed Anakin's fate?

What if Anakin killed Palpatine in Episode III or allowed Mace Windu to finish him off? I know this completely changes main underlying story behind Star Wars, but I think it would be a nice line of thought to explore.

Now I don't expect Lucas to write stories behind these scenarios, but I would like to hear what the Star Wars community has to say. Who knows, maybe they could make a comic book series out of this.
