Premonitions? Premonitions.
A blog inspired by Vadersgirl33's blog on SW Dialogs....

Anakin: "Obi-Wan, May the Force Be with You"
Obi-Wan: "Good-bye my old friend"

Every time I watch RoTS, this scene sends chills down my spine. Just as Obi-Wan states "Why do I think you are going to be the death of me?" in Attack of the Clones, here we have Anakin and Obi-Wan, former Master and Padawan; Best Friends and Brothers looking upon each other cordially for the final time in the saga.

Why does this chill me so?

Well,l I believe that Anakin is saying "may the Force be with you" full knowing what Obi-Wan is flying into (ok, it's not a belief rather a reality for us EU readers) and knowing that he is going to need all the help he can get. Seeing that scene it can be assumed that Anakin senses he isn't going to see Obi-Wan again as friends. Think about it.... As Obi-Wan's transport lift off, Anakin watches with that evil gleam in his eye - The look of a child who is up to something he shouldn't be. Anakin knows what path he is headed down....

Now, to me, Obi-Wan's "good-bye my old friend" signifies his sensing that Anakin won't be a friend much longer. It's like he is saying good-bye to his friend and brother (Anakin) full well knowing that Anakin's fate is the turn he takes to the Dark Side; becoming Obi-Wan's foe - Darth Vader. Obi-Wan knows that he can no longer protect Anakin from the evil drawing him away from the Jedi Order. Something he further admits on Mustafar when he admits failing Anakin.

Perhaps I am reading too much into it. Perhaps not.
