30 Years... Don't they go by in a blink!
I am all about quickies today... it's busy here at work and I really shouldn't be here blogging but, with the 30th anniversary TOMORROW, how can I focus on this thing called my job?

Shout outs to Ami, Stooge and anyone else that I have conversed with here at these boards over the last 2 years about our favorite subject... STAR WARS... that is making their dreams come true by attending C4! Am I jealous you are there, nah... my Dad's 70th birthday is the 26th so, I am focused on that. Do I wish I was there, heck yeah but, Star Wars is forever and I am sure that there will be another opportunity to attend a SW Celebration. Celebration V must be in the near future!

Now, onto the REAL reason for this blog....

I have to give credit to this article as it was the inspiration that I needed to write this quickie...

30 years. 3 decades.

It's no secret that I recently turned 35. It's also no secret that I first saw Star Wars 9 days after my 5th birthday (talk about a present that keeps on giving - I mean, getting a new SW movie every couple years as a kid was the best present in the world!) in 1977. It's also no secret who my favorite character in the movies is. If there's any doubt, look at my screen name... it's sort of a dead give away and, here's a secret... it's been my nickname since 1977.

I just can't believe that it was 30 years ago that I first saw the movie. Back before the pre-trilogy was made. Back when ANH was simply named "Star Wars". Back when there was a possibility that ESB wouldn't be made because no one knew how successful Star Wars would be. Back when everyone said SW - what's that?

30 years. 3 decades.

Just think... if SW hadn't been made, would the Pirates of the Carribean movies - or any other movie that ILM has a hand in - be as good as they are? I mean, ILM was created for Star Wars.... to make ESB better than ANH. Sure, there would have been CG - in this day of computers, how could there not be - but, come on. Star Wars is the reason that all these other movies are so successful (not to mention the geeks like us that go see them).

I am proud to be a complete fan of Star Wars. I am proud to be a collector, a fanatic, the geek that talks about Star Wars at work (and any where else that someone will listen) often, the one who reads any article about Mr. Lucas, Steven Spielberg, and all people and things even remotely related to Star Wars.

30 years. 3 decades.

This 30-something just wants to say "Thank the Maker".

Thank you for being the one, Mr. Lucas, who started it all and gave us all something positive to look to in this crazy, sometimes negative, world we live in.

When all else fails, we will always have our Star Wars to escape to. For this, I am forever grateful!

30 years. 3 decades. Don't they go by in a blink.

Happy Anniversary Star Wars!
