Let the Competition Begin!
Well, as some of you know, my daughter plays summer softball league in our town. On Tuesday night, her team secured first place and clinched a spot in the final championship game which is scheduled tonight for 5:45!

What does this have to do with Anakin's sleeping the night before his race? Well, let me tell you....

Last evening when I picked my lovely children up from my parent's house, K2 asked me if I would take her to the softball game (the 2nd & 3rd place teams were battling it out) at 8pm.

Of course, given that she had been up until after 10 on Monday and Tuesday night playing ball I thought it best that the kids get into bed at a decent hour and get their rest.

Long about 9:30, K2 strolls down the hall toward the tv room where I am relaxing, watching So You Think You Can Dance. When I ask what's up she says "Mommy, I can't sleep.... I am dying to know who we are playing tomorrow night. Kevin's not home yet so we can't ask him"!

Kevin is our next door neighbor whose daughter plays on the 2nd place, tangerine team.

Well, I figured, why the heck not? I was curious too and going to the field that late would get us there just in time for the end of the game. Right?

Nope!

I tell her to put her flip flops on and we head for the field. Low and behold, they had gotten a late start to the game (it started at 8:30 instead of 8pm) and they were only in the top of the 3rd when we arrived.

Shorly after arriving, we bumped into Kevin who was heading out because his daughter was away with her Mom last night and not playing. He left with a promise that I would let him know if their team won.

K2 and I sat in the bleachers. On our way over, she saw HER head coach who was there scouting the game as well. We sat in the bleachers until the end of the game.

After the game, we quietly snuck out of the field and headed home. K2 pleased with herself and the knowlege of the team she would be facing tonight.

We got in the car and drove home. Upon arriving, she said "can I put the note for Kevin in his door?". His daughter's team had won!

She walked in the house, crawled back into bed and fell fast asleep.

It was 11:35.
