Tales from the Death Star
date posted: Dec 17, 2007 11:33 AM
T'was a week (and a half) before Sithmas...
... and all through the house, not a Star Wars fan was sleeping, not even a mouse....

The kids were all running 'round the house without a care....

Knowing that soon there would be Sith Lords and Padawans and Jedi peoples there!

:^O

Yes, this past Saturday was my local Fan Force Christmas party and holy poodoo did we have a great time!

There was home-made salsa & chips to start. Then ham basted with cherry & pineapple, there was potatoes, vegies, stuffing.... the WORKS! Everyone who was there brought a little part.

For dessert, there was a padawan birthday in the house so, we had home-made pistacchio cake with white chocolate frosting on top. Along with sugar cookies, cupcakes....

Fresh apple cider to drink.

YUM!

This is not what was so remarkable about the party though. It was the aura of Christmas with a slight Star Wars glow. Yes, there was talk about Star Wars but it wasn't all we had to talk about.

That's what is so great about us SW fans, isn't it? SW brings us together but, it's all our other interests that keep the friendship bonds we make exciting!

I mean, honestly... I have friends that I don't have as much to talk about with as I do you guys.

The padawan who turned three on Saturday? His parents weren't going to come because of his celebration - they didn't want to take away from the dinner party. Then we all posted that we would LOVE to celebrate his birthday with them and that was that.

In true tradition, youngest Apprentice of WoV passed along a toy to the little guy because we had forgotten to pick up a gift for him. It was his original Leap-Pad. He said "Mom, can I give it to him for his birthday?"... how could I say no?

It's amazing!

Anyway....

Did I think to take pictures? Come on guys... you know me better!

We had a gift swap which was 80% Star Wars items and 20% other (yes, I was a lazy one who didn't shop for the perfect SW gift but, the person who swapped for the Starbucks card I had bought was happy I didn't - her husband's the SW fan.... not her).

We chatted about football and watched highlights from the 2007 Red Sox season. We talked about video games and books. We chatted about quantum physics (ok, WE didn't, my daughter and my friend from MIT - THEY chatted about physics and chemistry... :^O ).

And when the house fell silent at the end of the evening, I was completely confident that all had had a good night.... and the SW Christmas Special was no-where in sight!! ]:)

To you... my friends, no matter what the holiday you celebrate - I wish you the happiest of holiday seasons, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah, Happy Kwanza, Happy Winter Solstice....

... and best wishes for a happy, prosperous and healthy 2008!

Lots of Love,
xoxo,
Wifey
