 | Jacen's Sith name |
Tomorrow is the day that we get to vote on Jacen's Sith name. I advise everyone to vote. This is a once in a life time chance to be apart of Star Wars history. We will have a choice of Five different names to choose from, so choose well. It will go on until Feb. 27th.

I'm all ready for this, even though I don't know what to expect. And to be honest, I think fans that don't know Jacen shouldn't vote, but it's open to everyone. I have a fear that a fan will win the contest who hasn't read a single book with Jacen in it, but only time will tell. I'm excited for tomorrow, yet worried greatly.

I don't like any of the 5 Sith names. Mine was Darth Vengeus. I think star wars fans should have decided on narrowing down the names from a choice of 50 names. And to think I spent a week thinking about a new Sith name. I giving a vote of no confidence.

I'm troubled by the names as well. I find them much to ornate for my taste. Look at the ones from the films: Vader, Sidious, Maul, Tyrannus - simple, direct, menacing.
Now, I will admit the 'sith' names from the EU are much more extravagant than in the films so perhaps it's in line with those. However, none of them inspire fear IMO. The only one I find some fondness for is 'Judicar', though even that seems oddly out of place. If Jacen is to be picking his own name, he should stay away from the encyclopedia and allow his name to erupt from the darkness within.

All five choices are dreadful. I'll be staying away from this and flipping LFL the proverbial finger.

The 5 Sith names obviously came from the writers/cronies. This gives the EU a black eye. I agree with Kenobi-fan, there's no connectivity with the original story. I feel like returning my Hard Contact and Triple Zero to the bookstore now. I hope someone on these boards decides to have a REAL Sith naming contest so that REAL fans actually can decide what should have been.

no surprise here my name is not one of the finalist. I thought darth benedict was a good name for Jacen. because benedict arnold was a traitor and so is Jacen. I dont like the 5 names we have to choose from. I agree there should have been a poll to narrow the names down to the final 5. on the other hand maybe George Lucas should have given Jacen his sith name

Rogueish - they should've added another choice after Darth Taral, the sixth being "None of the above". I'm not voting either.

Wow! I'm going to have to agree with all of you, these names stink. Personally, I think that my name was better than any of those- Darth Adver Well, maby not, because it's mainly Vader spelled differently. Oh well. what was your name?

I didn't even attempt to dream one up - Brits weren't allowed to enter the competition anyway, although ironically it's in a Brit author's book that the name gets announced (Traviss).
This whole idea has been a complete travesty from start to finish.

I do agree with Kenobi-fan (of Jundland Wastes)
I came up with the name I submitted out of a more simple creative place
keeping somewhat in line w/ the ones from the films: Vader, Sidious, Maul, Tyrannus
'Darth Wretch' is not as extravagant as the (EU themed) finalists
Shall have to pick one of the chosen ....

I think the 5 names chosen are very lame too. Nothing menacing about them, nothing to strike fear into enemies.
The name I had submitted was..... DARTH MORGUS!

The name I finally voted for was "Darth Acheron," but none of the names really struck me. They sounded more like names that would be in a fantasy novel like the Lord of the Rings, and they didn't really have that "Star Wars" feel. The name I submitted was "Darth Zadenn."

I chose Taral. Remember, Jaden hasn't had experience with the previous sith before. Taral seemed to fit his motives.

The only thing we have to remember is Jacen is not trying to be menacing. He's trying to bring about peace and justice to his new empire.......oh geez, where have I heard that line before?

I didn't really like much of the names either. This is obviously going to be a best of the worst situation. I'm tempted not to vote, but not voting could end up with Jacen being assigned one of the worse names, and since I've developed an attachment to Jacen (Anakin is my favorite character after all) I am duty bound to give him the best name possible.
I also entered a name into the contest which I thought was pretty good, but it begins with a V so it might've gotten shot down because of repetitive redundancy. Anyway, I realized that everything that Jacen does he does because he thinks that he sees more than anybody else does.

He sees the war in a bigger way that Chief Omas; he sees the Force in a more encompassing view than Grand Master Skywalker; he sees Sith Mastery on a larger scale than Lumiya Lady of the Sith. . . the list goes on and on. So for my name I chose. . .
(enter Sith music). . . Darth Visto
May the Force be with you!
P.S. Maybe if we get enough votes behind a name that wasn't in the top five we could get them to change it to that name
P.P.S. Just to erase any illusions. . . I'm not saying this just to boost my name. If somebody's got something great we should put aside our personal agendas and rally behind that name for the good of Star Wars, the Force, and our beloved Sith-Turned Jacen

I voted for Judicar because I think Jacen is a proponent of justice.
My main hope is that we get one that's easy to spell and type, so Judicar and Acheron are my favorites of the two.

Ummm perhaps the name is already decided.

I think that's just because they dont want a million fansites/message boards and these here blogs to be infested with obsessive jerks saying "ooh look, the name I voted for is in the lead" or "pleese pleese pleese vote for darth gayal becos i think its the bestest name"
I think if "concern" starts coming into any of this, it's time to get a life.

I voted yesterday... for Darth Acheron. I think that would be really cool. Especially because it's a word associated with evil and the underworld.
I'm really eager to see what the public voted for!!

Rogueish - I'd be embarassed if I had picked one of those 5 Sith names. I was thinking more like millions of blogs saying please don't vote for any of these crappy Sith names. I think MaximiusBane is right, the name has already been decided. I bet the winner is going to be one of those VIP bloggers.

I was under laboring under the delusion that Jacen was Darth Krayt from the Legacy series. Well, there goes that theory. I put in Kronos, because he's going way in the past and future, but voted for Caedus. I don't know, it has a ring to it.

I thought Acheron was spot on for Jacen (and not just because it was my profile name). C'mon people, its "a river in Hell for those who deny justice"! If that isn't Jacen, what is? Who cares if it doesn't have a Vader reference or if it isn't as menacing as Darth Slaughteryouall? Plus, there are only so many shortened versions of disease/war/death words (Plageous, Sidious, Vader, Bane, etc...) Judicar is alright. It fits his character, but (okay, maybe I'm being a bit narcissistic here) it doesn't quite sound as good as Acheron.

As for the whole Darth Krayt thing, I'm glad that Krayt wasn't picked as one of the top five. I have nothing against the name, but if Jacen became Darth Krayt, that would ruin the whole series for me. This way, we still have only a vague idea of what Jacen will do, making it much more interesting.

The names are not as bad as everyone is making them out to be. I think that as fans, we have an emotional connection with Star Wars that clouds our vision. Of course we wanted our name to be chosen, but guess what? It wasn't. I think Paxis is a sold name. Obviously derived from Pax, meaning peace, which is what jacen believes he is pursuing. I submitted Darth Redentor from the Italian word redentore, meaning to redeem. I liked it, but it was not chosen obviously. I am sure it will not stop me from reading the books.

What a disappointment the 5 choices are. My submission might not have been the greatest, but I still like it better than those options. Darth Nior --short for Junior, since he is trying to follow his grandfather's footsteps.
I voted for Jud, just because I first thought of Justice when I read it and that seems to be what Jacen thinks he's doing.

To be honest, I haven't read any of the books with Jacen in it. The name I submitted was based on the fact that the movie Darths' names were all part or whole of a real word (Vader=invader, sidious+insidious, tyrannous=tyranny, etc).
So my submission was: Darth Trepid.

i was thinking about a name that sounded like a word as well. I couldn't come up with anything good. I am trying to write a fantasy book, and i have found that one of the best ways to come up with good names is to take words from other languages that sound good and represent the characters personality.
