NOTE: I was really really hesitant over whether I should post this in my Hyperspace blog, but I decided to go for it. I really hope this isn't a problem or against the terms of service or anything. See the Legalities section below or contact me via email (amyman @ ywing.net) if you think there are any issues.
So anyone who's been reading this journal for more than... about 2 seconds... knows that I love the game Republic Commando. One of the best parts of the game is the amazing music. So like with many games, I took it upon myself to make a medley of the music which encompasses many of the themes. This way I can avoid having to listen to the original game music tracks, which are often horribly repetitive. (Note: That was NOT a problem with RepCom music, as my playcounts can attest to, but I still really enjoy making medleys.) So now I have an 8 minute long medley and I wanted to share it with all you!
What's involved in making a medley? Not a whole lot, believe it or not. I'm not amazingly talented. I could never be one of those great music remixers. All I do is take the songs, cut them up into sections, arrange them in order, and mix them together. Medley making is 95% listening and 5% action. I sit there listening to songs over and over, trying to hear which parts of which songs will transition nicely into other songs. Once I figure it out, the mixing is trivial.

As for tools, I use
GoldWave.

Running time:
8:06 / 8:07 (the MP3 and WMA versions don't agree, lol ^_^)
Songs Included:
(all from the Republic Commando soundtrack, downloadable here, unless otherwise specified)
The Ghost Ship
Make Their Eyes Water
Rage of the Shadow Warriors
Gra'tua Cuun (Our Vengeance)
Vode An (Brothers All)
Ka'rta Tor (One Heart of Justice)
Bounty Hunter Pursuit
[from the AotC Soundtrack]
RV Alpha
Prologue
Yes, the medley ends with
Prologue - the irony has not escaped me.

But I did that because that track had a very nice transition from the 'RV Alpha' theme (as I call it) back to the 'Vode An' theme. And hey, I'm always looking for built-in transitions!
Legalities
This is always the bane of my medley-making existence, as I'm never quite sure if I'm
technically allowed to distribute my medleys. I'm pretty sure that I can make them for myself (if that's not "fair use", I don't know what is), but often my medleys use music that's bought and paid for, and thus I don't think it'd be good to give any old person on the internet clips from that protected music without them having to pay. But yeah, aside from one
tiny segment from the Attack of the Clones soundtrack, this medley is wholly music that is freely available online (
here, go to Navigate and then "MP3's" under Downloads), so I figure this is my best chance to actually share a medley of mine with the world with a clear conscience.

So yeah. I'm offering this for free, making no money off it (in fact, I'm
paying for the bandwidth), etc. Original composers were Jesse Harlin (RepCom music) and John Williams (general SW music), to which I offer my eternal gratitude.
If there
are any legal problems, I will of course take it down immediately.
Terms of Downloading
If you like the medley, please comment! It seems that whenever I share something, a lot of people download but I never get any feedback on it. That depresses me, as I really want to know what people think. So if you download and listen, please leave a short comment letting me know.

Thanks.
Other than that, common sense applies. If you're going to listen to it more than once, please download it to your harddrive (right-click on the link, 'Save Target As' or 'Save Link As') instead of clicking on the link multiple times. And you can feel free to share the file with others. But if you're posting a link online somewhere, please link to this
post rather than the file itself. And of course, don't claim you made the medley, etc. I don't think I need to go into that.
Download
Go download it at clonecommandos.net!
Ok, that's it. Hope you like!
