More RotS Thoughts
This movie just doesn't get boring, even on the fifth time. :) I also seem to be slipping into a pattern of seeing it once a week. I don't know if this'll last, but once a week seems necessary and sufficient for now. No more, no less. ;)

Before anyone asks... no I haven't yet made it through without crying at least a little! Order 66 does it every time.

Ok, so this last time I was really listening to the music a lot. Now that I've had the soundtrack for a while, I wanted to know where everything happens. That was cool. And let me just say - I LOVE the very beginning, with the drum beat as we see the Star Destroyer precursor, and then the starfighters come on and there's the awesome 'battle march' rendition of the Force theme. I liked that part in the soundtrack too, but it's so much better with the visuals!

For some reason, when Anakin and the 501st were marching on the Jedi Temple, it *really* bugged me that they weren't marching quite in time with the music. I love that music so much - it's 'The Arena' from AotC - and the footstep sounds were in time, but none of them, Anakin nor the clones, were *quite* in time.

Alderaan and its style of buildings reminded me of Taris from Kotor for some reason.

When Yoda and Anakin are talking about Anakin's premonitions... dudeman, those blinds would drive me absolutely *nuts*. I can't stand non-uniform light conditions. I only function well in well-lit areas - anything with directional or highly spatialized lighting sources would make me very uneasy and possibly angry. Guess it's a good thing I'm not a Jedi then, so I won't be ripping down Yoda's blinds if I ever had to pay him a visit. ]:)

There are two moments in the movie where I *always* hope that things will happen differently. And once a certain event occurs, I give up that small hope. One of them is when Anakin first discovers Palpatine is a sith and he ignites his saber. I just want Anakin to kill him *so* badly. Even if it's not very Jedi-like... it'd be better than what happens next. The other moment is right before Anakin rushes to his speeder to go to Palpy's office where Palpy and Mace are fighting. If only he'd stayed in the temple, it might have been different. *sigh* But the one part of the movie I always give up *all* hope after is Order 66. It's like... there's no going back after that. All the scenes where Obi and Yoda and Bail are escaping and such, I should be excited and hopeful that they'll be ok... but I can't. It's funny. Maybe this is the reason why the movie's ending never seems to affect me as much as other people. I'm already past that. Team-killing drains me, I guess.

And the fact that in both major duels at the end, one knows that none of the four characters can die... that kinda takes away the suspense, IMHO. It makes me really wonder if one *should* watch the OT before the PT. It's an interesting question now. Yeah, the "I am your father" line is ruined if one has seen the prequels, but a lot of other stuff could be more exciting if someone hasn't seen the OT when they see RotS. Hmm, interesting. I will need to think about this more.

That said, I really like and appreciate the Sidious/Yoda duel a lot more since reading the book. Describing them as pure good against pure evil... wow. It never occured to me how different that duel really was from the Ani/Obi duel. But it's true - one was good vs. evil in the truest sense, the other was a fight between brothers. Similar on the surface, much different underneath. Awesome. I *do* have one question though: why did someone neglect to tell Sidious that you should NOT waste your Force power on Force Lightning when your opponent has Force Absorb on!? Seriously. Even I know that. Sidious hasn't been playing enough games, I guess. ;)

That's it.. for now. :)
