Hello everyone, I'm back again after another brief hiatus. It's hard to post on here when both:
I'm trying to maintain 3 other websites
And
Nothing exciting relating to Star Wars is really happening.
So tonight I'm reviewing
Dark Tide II: Onslaught and
Darth Bane: Path of Destruction.
Sorry about the misleading picture, it was the closest one to either book that I could find.
It took me quite a while to finish Dark Tide 2, for several reasons (though I did actually finish it two weeks ago), the biggest one being that I just didn't have time to read. It wasn't really the best I've read either, but it was obviously good enough to finish. Though there were some really good battles, especially the final duel with Corran, it seemed a bit anti-climactic for the Dark Tide series. I don't know why. It was mostly just the tone of the writing. Or maybe because I was rushing to finish the second half. Either way, I didn't really like it for a NJO book, but I liked it more than Survivor's Quest (I didn't even finish the first half of that one).
Darth Bane, however, was one of the best books I've read yet. The funny thing is, three of my five favorite books have been written by rookie authors, like this one. Perhaps their fresh style makes the books better. Or maybe I've just gotten too used to the other authors' styles. Regardless, it's a good book, that I've already been reccomending to others, even though I only just finished it last night. If you haven't read it, read it! I'm looking forward to a sequel, or the Darth Plagueis novel. Whichever comes first.
A side note: Because Darth Bane was written by the lead writer on KOTOR, I decided to replay the game again. I enjoyed it even more the second time and after having read other stuff from the same guy.
Right now I'm reading Allegiance (which, thanks to Star Wars Insider, I've been looking forward to reading for nearly half a year), but I only have two more days on my loan. I also just checked out Betrayal and Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader, and I bought Bloodlines, so you can probably expect a triple, or even quadruple book review next time.
I'm glad to be back on the blogs. Until next time...
